Most of the serious food aversion I have seen working with clients in clinic is actually unresolved, beginning in early childhood.

When we are young, we take our cues from the world around us, including what type of food we may or may not like and take on the tastes of the people we are closest too.

Trauma can also affect our experience of food as we get older. 

Oftentimes, however, the source of the fear to trying new foods is unknown. This may be because the pattern begun when we were too young to remember it.
